Hi, I'm Craig Nannini, your everyday American living in Charlotte. I'm a tax paying homeowner in the University City, an engineer by trade and tea party organizer. I'm a Navy Vet and part-time community college teacher.
I'm married. We just welcomed our first son into the world. We also have two beagles, Ernie & Burt, and one pretentious cat. I love my wife and son, baseball, boxing, history, coffee, road trips and the United States of America. I'm a stereotypical American.

Mission:
Charlotte is a great city, but we have some serious problems. Our current leadership in this recession has had a, "Nothing to see here, let's move along" attitude.
Our local economy has been clobbered worse than the rest of the nation and other North Carolina cities. Charlotte's city council's priorities are all messed up. Its decisions will have a long term detrimental effect to the city's health.
First, the taxes and spending are out of control. The city spends $9,600 per family. Let's look at what that family gets. You get traffic jams on decaying streets, aging utility infrastructure and the country's 14th most dangerous city. While ignoring these most basic responsibilities, the city council built a new uptown basketball arena, convention center, NASCAR Hall of Fame, whitewater center and a half billion dollar train running down 9.5 miles of track.
City leaders spent millions to subsidize development, because they weren't happy with following the free market's pace. The last few years have been like shooting steroids into Center City. Much like a steroid user's body, the city is built up on the outside, but it's empty on the inside. Look around on your next trip to the store. You'll notice big box stores sitting empty, commercial and industrial space for lease and residential developments sitting empty or unfinished. The city gave away hundreds of millions of dollars in future property taxes to pay for the unnecessary growth.
I'm running for city council, because I want Charlotte to be a great city now and 30 years from now. I don't want Charlotte to turn into a dying rust-belt city like Detroit or Cleveland. I will stop the city from mortgaging our children's future for frivolous amenities today. Thirty years from now I don't want to do what my parents do. They have to drive half way across the country in order to see their kids and grandkids. I want our kids to be able to realize their dreams in Charlotte.
